What I'm Reading This Week 2016 #1

Well the first full week of the new year is under our belts!

Have you guys been doing the One Happy Year project?  It's not too late to catch up and start!  I've actually had some pretty amazing things that make me smile already so it's definitely worth it.  (Including last night's make up NYE dinner out, froyo for dessert and drove neighborhoods to see people's Christmas lights.)

Let's jump into 2016's first edition of...

8 Things You Should Never Touch at a Restaurant  (Cannot count how many menus have made me want to run screaming out the door.  Wipe them down!)

Bed Bath & Beyond Will Likely Scale Back on Their 20%-Off Coupons  (Noooooo!)

Bravo to Congress, but We Need More Than $1 Billion If We're Going to Cure Alzheimer's  (Amen Maria!)

5 Common Lies We Tell Ourselves When Trying to Lose Weight  (Guilty)

12 Fascinating Facts About Loneliness  (To quote Rick Springfield...we all need the human touch)

5 Reasons New Year's Resolutions Fail and How to Fix the Issues  (Good tips)

What Is Alzheimer's Like?  (I wish I could've had this talk with my grandma but she was in deep denial anything was wrong.)

Why Eating Fast Might Just Be the Cause of Your Weight Gain  (I know we still need to conquer this)

23 Things To Do To Improve Your Mental Health In 2016  (Some good ones in here I plan to do)

52 of the Easiest Health Resolutions a Person Can Make and Keep  (I've put a few into practice already)

7 Clever Uses for Silica Gel  (Don't throw those babies away from your new shoes or pill bottles!)

Fitbit users sue, claiming heart rate monitors miss the beat  (Not remotely surprised)

14 Dollar Store Buys That Can Organize Your Entire Home  (I'm so doing #9.  Those buggers are everywhere)

Ice Cube, Kevin Hart And Conan Help A Student Driver   (Don't drink anything while watching it)

We'll probably go ahead and get the Christmas decorations down this weekend.  I always hate to not have the option to get that tree lit because it's like the most beautiful night light ever.  If we ever have a house with 4 bedrooms, I want a Christmas room.  There, I said it.  I want to rig it so when I step in the room The Waitresses Christmas Wrapping starts playing.  One day I will learn all of the lyrics.  (New 2016 goal)

Oh and Happy Birthday Elvis!  I wish I were in Memphis right now.

What are you guys into this weekend?

  1. Yes I am still on the Happy Year Trail!
No big plans for this weekend. Organizing the last few boxes of Christmas stuff before before stowing and replacing an outlet.
My Dad's bday was same day and year as Elvis!
    Have a great weekend!

  4. Heading out of town this weekend. I have a mammogram scheduled for tomorrow morning, the only way I can get a Saturday appointment and not have to miss work for it is to go out of town. It's always nice to get away and see my folks though even if I was just up there.

I already do the hair tie thing, but I still random ones on doorknobs, windowsills, bedside tables, etc. Most of them are wrangled though.

I got my tree down last night. The new kitten we go for Christmas was loving it a little too much.

  5. What a week! It's just been hairy and all over the place. Today's another day like that and I won't be home until close to dinner time. AAACCCKKK!!! I actually know someone who has a Christmas room in her house and she loves it! I know somebody else who has a room totally dedicated to snowmen -- some Christmas, some wintery, some super fancy.

This weekend we are picking out an apartment size fridge for the garage (man cave) so I can finally get rid of the old big one in there that is probably costing me $20 a month to run it's so old. Then I'm having lunch with a friend of mine. I probably need to go to mom's house too. Haven't been able to get out there all week and will only swing by to pick up mail today as I'm going to be out in the suburbs in the late morning/afternoon. We are due to get some snow over the weekend so we'll probably salt now before it accumulates. We didn't do that last time and the ice was a good three inches thick. Lesson learned. Have a super duper weekend!! xoxoxo
